Where I Stand
Write-in candidate for Congress | Washington’s 5th District
I believe government should work for the people, not corporations, political parties, or special interests.I'm not a career politician, and I don't pretend to have all the answers. I'm a mother, an artist, and a community advocate who cares deeply about the future of Eastern Washington.I believe in listening to people, asking difficult questions, protecting our communities, and holding those in positions of power accountable. These are some of the issues that matter most to me.1. Environmental Protection & Natural ResourcesClean air, safe drinking water, healthy ecosystems, and protected natural resources are necessities, not luxuries.I support stronger environmental protections, responsible development, and preserving our forests, rivers, aquifers, wetlands, and wildlife habitats.Environmental protection isn't a partisan issue. Pollution doesn't distinguish between Republicans and Democrats, and neither should our responsibility to protect the places we call home.I believe environmental health and public health go hand in hand. We should never have to sacrifice one for the sake of economic development.2. Supporting Local Farms & Rural CommunitiesFarming is part of Eastern Washington's identity, and our agricultural communities deserve to be protected and supported.I support preserving productive farmland, protecting agricultural water supplies, strengthening local food systems, and helping small and family-owned farms remain economically viable. Our farmers shouldn't have to compete with massive corporations for the land, water, and resources their livelihoods depend on.I also believe rural communities deserve reliable infrastructure, accessible healthcare, educational opportunities, and a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their future.Protecting agriculture means protecting our food security, local economies, natural resources, and the families who have spent generations working the land.3. Data Centers & Corporate AccountabilityI support a nationwide moratorium on large-scale data center development until meaningful federal environmental protections, transparency requirements, and oversight are established.Communities deserve to know how these developments will affect their water supplies, electrical infrastructure, utility costs, agricultural land, and quality of life.I believe independent environmental assessments, enforceable resource protections, and meaningful public participation should be required before projects of this magnitude move forward.I am not opposed to technology or responsible innovation. I am opposed to allowing unchecked development to place unnecessary burdens on communities and natural resources.Economic development should never come at the expense of public health, environmental safety, or the people who already call these places home.4. Affordability & Economic SecurityToo many families are working hard and still struggling to get by.Housing, groceries, utilities, healthcare, and other basic necessities continue to place enormous financial pressure on households.I support policies that address affordability, encourage fair wages, strengthen economic opportunities, and help working families achieve financial stability.I also believe small businesses and locally owned operations deserve opportunities to succeed without being overshadowed by large corporations.A strong economy should be measured by how well everyday people are doing, not just corporate profits.5. Healthcare & EducationHealthcare should be accessible and affordable, regardless of someone's income, disability, or where they live.I support improving access to healthcare, including mental health services, reproductive healthcare, and medical care in rural and underserved communities.I also believe every child deserves a quality education and the opportunity to succeed. Our public schools, educators, students, and families need meaningful support. That includes recognizing the needs of students with disabilities and ensuring educational opportunities are accessible to everyone.Education and healthcare are investments in our communities and our future.6. Human Rights, Peace & Humanitarian ResponsibilityI oppose war, genocide, and the unnecessary suffering of innocent people.Human rights are universal. They should not depend on nationality, religion, political affiliation, or where someone happens to be born.I believe diplomacy, protecting civilian lives, humanitarian assistance, and respect for international human rights should be central to our foreign policy.I also believe our government has a responsibility to carefully examine how taxpayer dollars are spent, including foreign military assistance, and ensure those decisions reflect our humanitarian obligations. We should never lose sight of the human beings affected by political and military decisions.7. Government Transparency & AccountabilityThis is something I've spent a great deal of time advocating for personally.I've filed public records requests, reviewed government documents, attended public meetings, and asked difficult questions because I believe the public deserves to know how decisions are being made.Transparency shouldn't require months of unanswered questions or an exhausting effort just to obtain basic information.I believe public officials should be accessible, honest, and accountable to the people they represent.Government decisions involving public resources, environmental impacts, infrastructure, and economic development should be made openly, with meaningful opportunities for public participation.Public service is a responsibility, not a position of privilege.8. People Before Political PartiesI chose 'No Party' because I don't believe our values, concerns, or ideas should be confined to two political parties.People are more than political labels. We can disagree on certain issues and still find common ground on protecting our communities, supporting families, defending constitutional rights, and demanding responsible government.I believe elected representatives should be willing to work across political differences without compromising their responsibility to the people. No political party is entitled to anyone's vote, and nobody should feel their concerns are less important because they don't fit neatly into a political category.-My Commitment-I'm not promising that I can fix everything. No single person can. What I can promise is that I will listen, ask questions, do my homework, and approach these issues with honesty and an open mind.I believe in protecting what we cannot replace, standing up for people who feel unheard, and recognizing that the decisions we make today will affect generations to come. You don't have to agree with me on everything to deserve respect, representation, and a voice in your government.People matter. Our communities matter. Our environment matters. And our future is worth protecting.
